The identity theft in Costa Rica is a crime that increase day a day.  The reason why the identity theft increases day a day is because it is a “modern way to steal the people”. Due to the constant access that de people have to the Internet and the social network made easier “ the job” to the thieves.  Summarizing,the identity theft is a modern crime. 

The way to the criminals works is subtle and deceiving.  The criminals pretend to work in a companies. Then, with a thousand tricks, they steal your personal information, to open a bank account or a credit card. They work by phone calls, web pages, text messages or as a phishing that is a type of online fraud.  Summarizing the criminals use different ways to steal your money.

Nowadays the identity theft alarms the people and makes it paranoid about this crime, but this paranoia makes people be alert and this avoid that the people “ fall into a trap”. Some recommendations to avoid being victims to identity theft are:  Always be aware to your credit card, Shred important papers, always get a locked mailbox, had better not give your credit card number over the phone, call to police if you think you have been a victim of identity theft.  In conclusion you shouldn’t give any information to strangers and had better to be careful with your own things.
